I recently had the opportunity to work with a FABULOUS videography company, Rainbowfish Cinema. First of all they are extremely professional, have the greatest personalities and are very talented. They are truly FABULOUS!!!! The groom Daniel sent me a clip of the wedding yesterday and I must say they definitely touched my romantic side! The video gave me chills and made me feel like if you don't have LOVE you will definitely want to go out and find it NOW!!! Not a lot of videos do that to me!!!! ;-)

One of my New Years Resolutions is to post more blogs in 2011!!!! I do pride myself in my wedding and event planning skills but my social media skills..... I am still working on so bare with me!

So I hope you all had a really nice holiday season and your all ready to start the new year off with a BANG!!!! I know I am!!! I've been working on several things for the new year and can't wait to share!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to work with the Bel-Air Bay Club in Pacific Palisades. Can I just say OMG such a beautiful, relaxing venue with superior customer service. During the wedding I knew they would be this weeks pick for FABULOUS Friday!!!!

I must say it was a breath of fresh air to work with such a friendly staff. EVERYONE was super nice, friendly professional and helpful! Honestly being that I was the coordinator for my client's wedding, the staff made me feel like "I" was the actual client because they truly catered to my every need! Talk about getting the VIP treatment! ;-)

I loved working with this FABULOUS staff in such a FABULOUS location! Andrea and I had a few minutes to sit on the balcony and listen to the sounds of the waves crashing while we were waiting for the reception to begin. Ahhhhhh....pure relaxation! The views from both the ceremony and reception were truly breathtaking! I fell in love with this location so much that I wanted to move in! It is a definite must consider when planning your next event.

My Latest Addiction....

At the beginning of the year I had the pleasure of coordinating the Sweetest Perfection Event at Party Rental King in Santa fe Springs. Who would have ever thought I would meet my "newest addiction" at an event!!!! Thanks to a quaint shop in Lakewood, Miss Priss Cupcakes and Such I am so addicted!!!! One bite of their peanut butter and jelly cupcake and they have me hooked. Obviously I am addicted right?!?!?! Notice, I said the event was at the BEGINNING of the year and it's almost summer and Miss Priss is still on my mind! Needless to say I have made numerous trips to this amazing gem of a cupcake shop. They have the traditional flavors of cupcakes but they also have some "oh my goodness why didn't I think of that" flavors that will surely keep you coming back for more. Everyone I have told about Miss Priss comes back telling me how good the cupcakes are and they truly understand my addiction! In April of 2009 I attended the OC AfWPi mixer, a mixer I almost did not make it to! There I met one of the most beautiful wedding vendors whose beauty radiates from the inside out. We became best friends within the first 5 minutes of conversation!!!! :-) During our conversation we talked about her relationship with her boyfriend and how much she wanted to marry him, and how I just knew I was going to plan her wedding when they decided to get married! Today...one year and almost two months later I have the PLEASURE of coordinating this beautiful lady's wedding! Through the whole wedding process Ana has remained humble, focused on her love with JT and her love for her beautiful family. This wedding will have so many personal touches that include their family members....I just know I am going to shed tears today! I get chills thinking about what is in store for them!!!! Nine years ago I lost my mother, my best friend, my confidant to the ugly thing we call Ovarian Cancer. My mom was my first inspiration for participating in the Revlon Walk years ago, but today I do it for many other reasons. Every time my best friend and I walk, we are saddened by the many loses and touched by the amazing strength of the survivors. When doing the walk I always run into other friends who are there in support of someone they lost to cancer, someone they love who is currently going through cancer, or they are there in hopes of helping to find a cure for breast and ovarian cancer.

Last weekend our very own Andrea made her wedding coordination debut at Diana and Josh's wedding reception at The Reef in Long Beach. The beautiful reception decor included my favorite....a blinged out cake stand, was provided by Flowers on Mars and of course the elegant crystal trees by White Feathers Events. The view from the room was breathtaking. The dance floor was packed thanks to DJ Mars, and at the end of the night we had one very happy bride! It's official, after my 4:00 tasting today with the amazing Michael Compean from Michael C. Events I am on vacation! Everyone who knows me knows I am not "truly on vacation" the only way that will happen is if I am somewhere with no internet access because I love my work so much that I can never stay away! What this time means to me is spending more time with my kids, getting a little bit of rest and relaxation in, and revamping and preparing for the new year. I am very excited about all of the changes we will be experiencing in 2010.

Love Mexico Experience

Ok, I know I have been missing from the "blogging world" but life has been crazy, finishing up the end of the year weddings and prepping for wonderful new exciting things for 2010! At the beginning of December I had the opportunity to participate in the Love Mexico conference in the Mexico Riviera for wedding planners through the Association for Wedding Professionals international. What a fantastic opportunity that was. I reconnected with other fabulous planners I met in the Philippines as well as built new relationships with other amazing planners and had the opportunity to meet some of my facebook friends like Josefina Luna who is always posting gorgeous photos of the JW Marriott Cancun Resort and Spa which is what sparked my interest in Cancun. The venues in the Riviera Maya were awesome! The beautiful Barcelo Hotel and Resort was our host for the event. We were given the opportunity to tour other gorgeous locations, meet with talented suppliers, learn how to assist our destination brides, and experienced a Mayan Wedding. Such an unforgettable experience which has enabled me to better assist my clients looking for a destination wedding in Mexico. Here are a few shots from my Love Mexico experience!

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to visit the Philippines with the Association for Wedding Professionals international. We were treated with the greatest hospitality and met some of the nicest,humble and happiest people! This experience taught me to really appreciate everything I have and not to take my blessings for granted because everything we have can be quickly taken away.

The recent typhoon was definitely another reminder. It's easy for us to turn our heads the other way...but the truth is still there, there are families, fathers, mothers, children that are in need of assistance. Every little bit helps. Top 7 Ways To Create More Hours In Your Day

I know this is not "wedding related" but I think a lot of us can utilize this information since we are all trying to cram in so many things into our days. Thank you Linda Hollander from the Wealthy Bag Lady, (http://www.wealthybaglady.com/) I've already started incorporating some of these tips into my day! Hopefully you will find it helpful as well.

1. Use the 80/20 rule. We all know that 80 percent of our results come from 20 percent of our efforts. Figure out what the top 20 percent of your activities are and concentrate on them. Delegate the other tasks or put them off until later.

2. Reduce the Time You Spend on Email. Set up electronic file folders and flag messages from clients and other key contacts. Avoid the urge to check your email every few minutes.

3. Put Fun Names On Your Daily Activities. According to Lisa Nichols, one of the teachers in the Secret Movie, we need to put fun names on our tasks. Instead of checking email, she calls it "Finding money." Instead of working out, she calls it, "Bringing sexy back."

4. Work with a Timer. Buy a kitchen timer and turn it on when you start a task. When I'm editing corporate sponsor proposals for my clients, I put the timer on for 20 minute intervals. Just knowing the timer is on, makes me more productive.

5. Take Frequent Brakes. Avoid working for hours on the phone or your computer with no brakes. Get up, stretch and walk around every hour. If you're in a home office, you could take a walk around the block. If not, you can just go outside. Breathing in fresh air and looking at nature will re-charge your battery.

6. Strive For Completion, Not Perfection. This is a favorite mantra that I use with my clients. Too many of them are perfectionists and it blocks them from completing tasks and moving on to the most important cash flow activities in their businesses.

7. Reward Yourself For Completing Tasks. I love chocolate, so after completing a task, I eat a piece of chocolate and savor the flavor. I eat the good quality chocolate, so I my hips haven't gone condo yet.

Today I had the opportunity to go to BizBash with my friends from the James Irvine Garden. It was a day of networking with other wedding vendor friends, learning about new products and services for my clients, and meeting some really cool new vendors. Beautiful Resort So Close To Home!

I know I am a little late with this post but with the crazy fun world of wedding and party planning I have been swamped! I just couldn't resist the need to get the word out about such a beautiful resort so close to home.

As many of you may know I am very active in the Association for Wedding Professionals international and we are very fortunate enough to have some of the most beautiful venues in Southern California host our mixers. In April we were honored to have our mixer hosted by The Pacific Palms Resort in Industry Hills. (I told you I was a little behind!) When I first heard about this location I immediately got online to check out their website, because after all I have never heard of a "resort" being located in Industry Hills! When I saw the site I was amazed by the beauty of the venue...but again I kept thinking maybe this is another Industry Hills we are going to! Of course my expectations of the resort were not the greatest because I was a tad bit leery about the location...but that all changed when I saw this beautiful venue sitting on top of a hill! That's when I knew this place was going to be as beautiful as the photos on the website! We were greeted by drivers escorting us to the gazebo area in golf carts and the view was breathtaking. For a minute I totally forgot where I was and kept thinking I was vacationing in Palm Springs! Once we reached the gazebo area and I saw the gorgeous view of the city...my mind was not on the mixer, vendors or work...I truly thought I was there to relax! The resort had a way of making you feel like you were somewhere totally far away from "the real world and all of your worries"! It was truly amazing! The view in the daytime was gorgeous, but at night it was PRICELESS!

The Pacific Palms Resort is a full service destination hotel and is perfect for a wedding, destination wedding, overnight trip or weekend getaway because they have everything you could possibly need and want. As I mentioned earlier there are golf carts...so yes there is a fantastic golf course. For us ladies of course there is a relaxing SPA...in other words heaven in Industry Hills! What more could we possibly want! :-)

Best Investment for Your Next Event!!!!

Last weekend I celebrated my 35th birthday! Fortunately for me it helped me to realize something VERY IMPORTANT: I could have used a party planner! Before I started my business I always wondered why people hired party planners when in my eyes planning a party is probably one of the funnest things you can do! But since then I have come to realize that not everyone enjoys party planning as much as I do or they may not have the time! Since I was a little girl I had so much love for planning parties. I remember being in the second grade and writing my guest list, planning my menu with my mom, blowing up the balloons and strategically placing them all over the dining room. And whenever anyone touched my decor I was pretty upset because I wanted everything to be PERFECT for my guests arrival! Who would have known that my party planning love would continue to grow into an adulthood passion! As a coordinator I am use to planning any type of event for my clients. But I must say planning mine was definitely "different"! Why? Because I am a coordinator so everyone is expecting a certain "type of party" of course I have an image to uphold! What I can say is even with all of my planning, shopping, shopping, shopping, :-) and set up, I still needed someone the day of my party! Luckily I have some really good friends who stepped up and helped when it came to serving the food. But the downfall to this is they did not get to enjoy my party, actually my best friend never really made it out of the kitchen (and the party was catered) everyone was asking me a million questions, I had to do some work in the kitchen and for set up, and I didn't "really" get to enjoy myself because I was worrying about other details! Which made me think about my clients. My clients are SPOILED because they don't have to do anything on the day of their event. My goal is to handle EVERY DETAIL for my clients leaving them time to enjoy every aspect of their event. When you are hosting a large event the time goes by so fast because you are trying to squeeze in those few minutes to talk to all of your family and friends and by the end of the night you realize there just was not enough time! That night played over and over again in my head as I wondered did I spend enough time with everyone! There were some guests that I felt my time was way too short with and by the time the night was over I realized I only took two bites of my dinner and never even tasted my birthday cake! Over all, it was a successful event but I do wish I had someone who could have actually helped with running my last few errands and actually being there that day to make sure my family and friends had a chance to enjoy themselves instead of working. From my experience I do see that no matter what size party you are having it is a good idea to have someone who is a professional planner or
coordinator to be there to make sure you are able to enjoy your event. Trust me I am one who believes in helping clients save money but having someone there to oversee your event is a true investment. After all what is the point in spending hundreds or thousands of dollars, spending countless hours with the planning and decorating when you are too busy too actually enjoy all of your hard work!

I Love My Clients

Last night I had the pleasure of hosting a celebration for one of my past client's one year anniversary. It seems like just yesterday we were tying up the loose ends of Jeannette and Scott's wedding, confirming all of the final details and making sure this day was everything the couple anticipated it to be.

Wine Tasting at Home

This weekend I had the honor of hosting a wine party for my best friend's "Thirty Something Party!" It was nice to celebrate at home and have someone come in to educate us about the various wines. We learned some cool techniques that I am sure most of us will probably try, sampled wines, learned what we did and didn't like about the wines, I realized my best friend has a bionic nose that could actually smell the cherries in the wine! LOL! Overall it was a really fun night, that left us giggling, very happy ;-), but most importantly we were able to celebrate someone who is very
special to us all! :-)

The in home wine party is a really cool concept and is perfect for a birthday celebration, bridal shower, or for an intimate get together of friends. Last month I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Philippines in search of the most spectacular wedding and honeymoon venues. I was fortunate enough to be selected as one of the few coordinators from the Association of Wedding Professionals international to experience what the Philippines has to offer to their brides as a destination wedding location and honeymoon location.

I must say I was definitely impressed! First of all the hospitality was amazing. They had beautiful white sandy beaches and resorts that definitely took your mind off of work! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming to us. One thing I learned is Filipinos love to sing and dance which our tour guides had no problem showcasing their singing skills! The wedding venues were amazing, the service was impeccable, the wedding vendors were truly talented and most important....it was all affordable!

The Philippines' talented wedding vendors can help guarantee a unique wedding experience. Their prices were surprisingly very affordable and alot of the videographers and photographers are accustom to traveling to the US for weddings. You've recently gotten engaged and now your ready to start planning your wedding. A must for every bride...attend at least one bridal show during your wedding planning. Bridal shows are a lot of fun, you get to see some of the latest trends in decor, bridal attire, and cakes. Not to include you get to learn first hand about various venues. Include your bridesmaids, mother, or even your future mother-in-law and enjoy an informative wedding planning girls day. Add lunch to the day and you've created a way for your bridal party to get to know one another before your big day!

If your fiance doesn't seem too thrilled about attending the bridal show(s)...don't get upset! Most men would rather be at home in front of the tv watching the game as opposed to walking down the aisles ooohing and ahhhing over the latest wedding trends! That does not mean he doesn't love you and that he doesn't think the wedding planning is of importance! Trust me you are not the only bride to have to force her fiance to attend! Make sure you have an opportunity to "talk" to the vendors and not just grab their information and stuff them into your bags! If this vendor has the services you are seeking and may seem like a potential vendor for your wedding, separate their business information or make notes so that you are not confused once you get home. Wow! Time has really flown by! I can't believe my last post was in August and next week is already Thanksgiving! We've been finishing up our weddings for 2008 and working on our 2009 brides! The Southern California Chapter of Association for Wedding Professionals International celebrated our one year anniversary in October at the beautiful Belamar Hotel in Manhattan Beach.

Since I haven't posted in a while I haven't been able to share my featured vendor of the month! The holidays are coming up and everyone is always looking for that "universal" gift for coworkers, friends and family members so I thought the Pasadena Winery at the Paseo Colorado in Pasadena would be perfect to showcase as the vendor of the month. Not only can you host a private event at their location but you can also make your own wine! AfWPi Sacramento Mixer

Nancy(Flowers on Mars) and I should receive the award for traveling the furthest to a networking mixer! Earlier this month we drove out to Sacramento for an AfWPi mixer. We wanted to get new ideas and suggestions to see how to enhance the So. Ca. mixers.

This was my first opportunity to be a "guest" at one of our association's mixers. It was weird for me because I am use to making sure everything is running smoothly and trying to network with everyone who walks in! I am usually busy from the moment the first vendor walks in until the very end. In Sacramento, I actually had a chance to sample the foods, take a picture in their photo booth provided by one of AfWPi's members, and meet some really good contacts. I was very impressed, I met another coordinator who specializes in "bridezillas"! I take my hat off to her!

I had the opportunity to meet members who have been members for years and hear some of the stories first hand about how the association has made a big impact in their lives and their businesses. It's wonderful to hear how so many people who love the wedding industry will turn around and help one another when help is needed. I left Sacramento feeling proud of being a member of an association that treats it's members like family! What a wonderful experience!

AfWPi Mixer at The City Club on Bunker Hill

Our AfWPi July mixer was hosted by the City Club on Bunker Hill. What an amazing facility. The romantic view of the city is truly priceless. The staff was beyond professional, helpful and extremely courteous. Maria Schmidt, the private events director went beyond her duty to assist our vendors with a welcoming attitude. The City Club on Bunker Hill is a definite must see when planning your next event.

We had an amazing turnout. Our vendors came from San Diego, Orange County, Riverside and of course L.A. It's wonderful to see so many vendors who are passionate about their businesses.

We did a lot of networking. Some vendors gained new clients. We welcomed new menbers to AfWPi. The food was wonderful. NancyKay from NancyKays' confections spoiled us with samples of her delicious cakes. Demetra from SBD Events impressed our guests with her beautiful fantasy sign in table skirt. Flowers on Mars amazed everyone with their gorgeous crystal tree. DJ Keith from Totally Entertainment had AfWPi members doing the Cupid Shuffel! What an amazing night. To top it off, we were fortunate enough to have our president Richard Markel and Vice president Julia Markel present for this event. When an event lasts 2 hours longer than anticipated...you know it was AMAZING!

Remembering True Love...

I love what I do. I love planning weddings, I love meeting new couples and developing friendships and I love seeing all of their dreams come true on their wedding day. A little insight about me, I get very attached to my couples because I work so closely with them. Everytime I see my brides in their dresses I get emotional. I've been known to shed a few tears because I feel like my "babies" are growing up!

The first time I spoke to Shana (recent bride) I could tell she was truly in love with Matt. When I met them I could tell they were deeply in love with each other. Wow, if you could only see the way Matt looks at Shana! L-O-V-E!!!! Ladies, I know you understand what I am talking about. When your mate stares into your eyes with the look of: you are the most beautiful woman in the world and no one else matters! When all he cares about is satisfying your needs and making sure you are always happy! Yes ladies, that is the "look of love"! Matt and Shana are too cute together!!!

Ladies, while you are making all of the plans for your wedding and the stress begins to build up. Remember the most important thing is you are marrying the one you are deeply in love with.
Love is a beautiful thing. Consider yourself lucky that you've found your "true love". Remembering this will make your whole wedding planning experience a lot less stressful!

As many of you know my children started a new school this year. Of course I plan on continuing to be that mother all of the teachers can count on so I jumped right in when asked to chair certain events! After this weekend...I am asking myself what did I get myself into?!?!?! We had the school's annual fair which next year I will be organizing the entire food court...this year I only had to assist. Talk about WORK! From making sure all of the volunteers were signed in, cleaning tables, making sure the volunteers had their supplies, jumping in when needed to sell churros (lol...thanks Yami!) cleaning up afterwards and making sure the rental companies had their items back. It was definitely more work than I anticipated! Let's just say by the time I got home my feet were crying for a massage! After about 10 hours sleep, I am all better now! LOL! This morning my first thought was I am not doing this next year especially because I am also chairing the staff appreciation luncheon tomorrow! BUT....everyone who knows me knows I love a "challenge"! So, I sat down and brainstormed about what I would like to change, how many people I would need to help make this work and what could be done to make everyone's lives easier! Now I am looking forward to taking this on. I try to show my girls that you can do anything you set your mind to doing. When things get rough, I only tend to work harder! Although this weekend's event isn't the type of work I am use to doing or prefer doing...I have to remember without parent volunteers these events our kids love participating in wouldn't be possible!

More than Just Weddings has finally joined the world of blogging! I've been told this would be a great way to keep my past brides, current brides, potential brides, vendors, and friends up to date with what is going on in the busy world of our company! Let me bring you all up to date! First off I would like to welcome the greatest asset to MtJW! Andrea...Andrea is a gem, my newest assistant that I LOVE so much! She has helped alleviate a lot of my work so that I can focus on my clients and AfWPi events. Andrea is not only remarkable in the office but at events and weddings she helps to make my clients day FABULOUS!!!! Andrea showed her skills at the Lopez/Comulada Wedding. This was a very fun yet challenging wedding because my bride Jeannette wanted to make sure her guests were truly entertained and walked away feeling like they had never been to a wedding where they had so much fun. Feedback three weeks later...they are still talking about this wedding! Everything was beautiful from Flowers on Mars recreating the Jessica Simpson ceremony look at a very affordable price. Tesoro Trattoria provided an amazing location for the reception. The service was top notch...food...beyond amazing. Marvin, Tesoro's manager is every wedding coordinators best friend! DJ Mars kept the crowd going to where guests were requesting his play list! And how do we ever forget the amazing team at Planet Zaya who made the couple feel like their wedding was being featured on Platinum Weddings! Planet Zaya's crew consisted of 5 staff members to ensure every aspect of the wedding was captured and a jib (crane used to shoot movies) made everyone feel like they were all in a featured film. The response of the crowd...this wedding must have cost a fortune! Andrea was able to assist with the many "surprise" events going on from the Peruvian Band entrance to the debut of Scott's rock band performance! My other beautiful assistant Adrianne was on hand to assist with this wedding as well. My staff helped me to pull off yet another successful, flawless event! I love you guys!!!!

I wanted to wish my funniest couple a very Happy Anniversary!!!! Cameron and Rochael Williams celebrated their one year anniversary Mother's Day weekend! Talk about a couple who can make you laugh for hours straight! They were truly made for each other! Love you guys!!!!

In the world of AfWPi we are pleased to announce our newest board members: Totally Entertainment; Darryl and DJ Keith will represent their amazingly talented company! So welcome aboard Totally Entertainment! For those of you who are not aware of this association, AfWPi is the Association for Wedding Professionals international. It is a nation wide association for weddding professionals and I am the Southern California Community Leader. Every last Tuesday of the month we host a mixer at various locations throughout the Los Angeles County area. Some of our previous mixers include Brandview Collection in Glendale, Lawry's in Beverly Hills, Primes American Kitchen in Long Beach, Redondo Beach Castle, Tesoro Trattoria in
Downtown LA and Cinespace in Hollywood. This is an excellent way for vendors to network with one another and introduce their companies to individuals who may not be aware of their services.
